WHAT IS E-DESIGN?
E-design is interior design done entirely online, where the designer and the customer communicate mostly through e-mails and phone calls, making it very convenient for people looking to convert a space but don’t have time to spend on meetings with a designer, and since the customer is the one doing the installation of the pieces and decor, it can be done at whatever pace the customer wants.
This makes it a much more affordable, and approachable way to do interior design. Less money goes to designer fees, which means more money can be used on the actual design. And if you think you need to spend a fortune in order to get your dream space, you are wrong! Nowadays, there are so many brands out there creating great furniture, materials and decor, that it is not necessary to spend a crazy amount of money if you don’t want to spend much.
My goal is to create great designs for people of all ages, from fresh from college professionals looking to start buying furniture for their brand new apartment, newlyweds or couples just moving in wanting to create a home together, young families with little ones on the way, families with older kids looking for a new look, empty nesters and grandparents wanting to make their homes a relaxing space…you get the idea.
how does it work?
Most if not all of the process is done entirely online, where we will be communicating through e-mail and instant messaging. The process was created considering that most likely we (the customer and designer) won’t be available at the same time, so it is easy to communicate everything through e-mails and such.
I want to make interior design fun and more casual, in a relaxed setting. Think of me as a friend you asked for help to decorate your space.
here’s the step by step:
- You fill out a questionnaire & send pictures of the space that you want us to work together. You can also include pictures of rooms/styles that you like, explain what you are looking for, and you can let me know if there are any furniture pieces or decor that you already own that you’d like to incorporate into the design. Essentially, all that you would like me to know to create the best design concept for you.
- With all the information you send me, I then start looking for products that can be bought online or that are available at a store in your city (I’m talking about stores like Target, Ikea, World Market, Pier 1 Imports, etc.) that fit the specifications of style and budget (very important!). After choosing a few products, I prepare 2 design concepts for your review. They won’t be final, but they will give you a good idea of what I’m working on.
- Together, we review the 2 design concepts, talk about what you like or not like. We decide on one or the other (or a combination of both) as the basis to start the final design concept, and talk about what pieces are your favorite, and which ones not so much. If there are any changes to style or specific pieces, this is the moment we talk about it so that I can prepare for the next step.
- After collecting all this info, I make the final selection of furniture, decor, art, paint colors, whatever is necessary and prepare a shopping list with links for purchasing. I also add a set of instructions, and if needed, a floorplan to help you layout furniture and bigger decor pieces. From this package, you will be able to purchase everything, either online or in store, and layout everything according to the design concept and instructions.
Can ads help you select finishes?
Absolutely, if you are looking to do a full remodel or just paint a wall, I can always recommend and include a selection of finishes to complete your space. Tile, backsplash, carpet, countertops, etc.
