BLACK AND CREAM MODERN LIVING ROOM

February 27, 2019 in BLOG, LIVING ROOM - No Comments - 4 min read

If anyone is as crazy for neutrals as I am, you are going to love this living room design. I sometimes (okay, all the time) dream about spaces that I see and can’t stop thinking about them. And then, I forget where I saw that space and can’t find a picture anywhere and well… the only solution is too do it myself. Is the only way to calm that itch (yes, it is an itch).    That is why it feels so good to make these design boards even if I don’t have a specific customer, so that I can get them out of my head and move on to the next design. This particular living room I would really consider it for when we have a new home. I love how elegant and modern it looks. I feel like I would live here wearing a pair of really well fitted nice quality jeans, a white non itchy super plush wool sweater, and either a bob or a low bun with perfectly sun kissed hair. And red lipstick of course. And a gimlet in hand.

Ok! Enough about the day dreaming. But really, how awesome would it be? If I could pick a favorite piece from this living room, I wouldn’t know what to pick. I have loved these chairs since the collaboration went out (from The Everygirl x Interior Define) and even entered a giveaway in the hopes of winning one of these. They design is the right amount of comfy and perfection, and the velvet is just the right color. Not pitch black but not grey either. The sofa color is the perfect light color for me, not too yellow, or too blue, it is just soo neutral it is perfect. It would fit with a lot of other colors, but honestly, combining it with black and dark greys does it for me.    The console table details on the legs makes the whole table look. Details like these are what makes all the difference in a design, and sometimes for me those details, no matter how minimal, are non negotiable. The tables used as a coffee table have been a long favorite as well. I would put them anywhere, even as bedside tables, for someone looking for a simple but intentionally cool look. As for the rug, I like a good patterned one don’t get me wrong, but I feel like a simple textured one sometimes helps with making the room feel calm and more sophisticated. There are a lot of patterns that seem too busy for me and can feel very trendy if you don’t use them well.

As for the floor lamp, OMG (remember I told you I couldn’t pick a favorite?) again the details of the legs is what does it for me, it’s like hi I’m a floor lamp, and you don’t notice at first but then you take a double look and bam you realize the detail of the legs, simple but makes such a difference. Perfect. And now, to talk about that cabinet, I first saw it on Danielle Moss’ Instagram of her home, and wow. She does have excellent taste and this caught my eye right away. It is big enough to store a lot of things and the top portion is perfect for keeping pretty stuff and the covered bottom area is where you can keep what is not so pretty. I can even see this to be used in a kitchen, like a really pretty and very now China cabinet, don’t you agree?

I wanted to leave the art for the end, simply because I have so much to say about it and the artist. I discovered Josh Young Design House I think it was early last year. My jaw was to the floor. Immediately after I opened his Instagram account. I love looking at art but there is just very few artist that truly resonate with me and spark pure joy from just looking at it. Josh’s art is one of very few. I am so in love with everything that he does, and he drops collections quite frequently that sell in a mater of hours. I’ve checked. No matter what he does, I love it, even before he makes it I already know I’m going to love it. So if you are not familiar with his work, you better go check him out, I know it won’t disappoint!    I am totally saving up to get my own custom piece by him, fingers crossed it won’t be too long!   Anyways, down here you can find all the links and if you want us to get started on your own living room don’t hesitate to contact me to get started.
